The eyes

There is a saying that the eye is the window to one's soul. It is so true in portrait photography. When you look at a photo, if everything is perfect but the eyes are blurred or don't seem right, you may reject it eventually.

These are some of my photos with only the eyes as a main focus. Even the face is absent, you may still feel a connection with the person behind through his/her eyes.

Interestingness

Frankfurt - on a sunny day

Here are some photos that didn't look good in BnW as I expected (in previous post), but are still interesting in some ways to me.

Interestingness

I particularly like the leading shadows, the reflection of blue sky on the windows' mirrors, the arrangement of the yellow doors and the combination of colors that all came together in this photo.

Still, this is only my subjective comment. And you, what do you think?

The making of some BnW images

Frankfurt - on a sunny day

I went out for a walk along the river Main in Frankfurt on a rare sunny day of the week.

Aside from a pleasant walk, I also want to shoot some black and white (BnW) images. Often, BnW processing comes only as an option while I'm developing photos, by playing around in Photoshop until something looks good :">

So, this time I tried to imagine the scene in black and white before pressing the shutter button while seeking for things like contrast and shadows, the difference in colors, the patterns, etc...

Well, not many photos were taken and not all of the results work well in BnW as I thought. But it was a fun and enjoyable experience as I saw things beautiful in a different way...

To be honest, I hoped Phuong (Admire) to be here 'cause she loves spring and would photograph these better than me, but unfortunately, she couldn't make it this year... Sigh...

Thu Trang ♥ Dinh Lam

Yet another couple friends of ours are getting married this year. But it won't be until October and they still have plenty of time to plan for their big day.

It was as early as March that we went for a short session with them along Singapore River to the Merlion, the signature place that each and every tourist will go to. To be honest, although having been there so many times, I still think it's really beautiful there.

We went there early in the morning to catch the beautiful sunrise, which in our more than 7 years in Singapore, we had never been able to do. There wasn't a wedding gown but it was so exciting to shoot them. And you can totally tell that they belong to each other. We got ourselves some beautiful photos.

Well, enough said. Here are some of our favorite photos of the day.

Huy ♥ Hoang

Yes, as of right now, they are officially married. So this is kind of a 'late' congratulation if you will.
Huy has been our good friend for years now. He was also one of our photographers last year when we got married. So when it is his turn to put on the suit, it is our turn to pick up the camera and capture his best moments with his beautiful bride.

What you must know about the groom is his caring and helping nature...

Huy ♥ Hoang

... what you must know about the bride is that she designed her own wedding gown, making her own bouquets and plenty of other things for the wedding. I really admire her for that.

Huy ♥ Hoang

... and what you must know about them is that they want to spend their whole life together...

And this is perhaps what you don't know yet.

We went with them on a so-called 'engagement session' and captured not only how romantic they were but also how much fun they had with each other.

I've never thought that I would miss their wedding though. I heard from a guest that it was such a blast and I bet he was right.

Soon, they'll be home for the Vietnamese customary wedding. We wish them the best time of their lives together.

Smiles

Smiles

I took this picture when I was on the bus to work in the morning.

When the bus stopped to pick up passengers, I saw a group of kids across the street. I just looked through the camera, rotated the focusing ring and... waited...

The moment happened when some of the kids noticing me. Click! The bus started moving.

Love the mixture of emotions in the group, especially the kids' smiles. My fav, for the first week
in Offenbach.

Bonus pictures ;). Taken on my way to supermarket.
